🥩🍚 Beef Tips with Rice and Gravy
A classic comfort meal—tender beef simmered in a rich gravy, served over fluffy rice. Perfect for weeknight dinners or meal prep.
Ingredients
For the Beef Tips
- 1½ lbs beef stew meat or sirloin tips, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
For the Gravy
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For Serving
- 2 cups cooked white or brown rice
- Optional: chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
1. Brown the Beef
- Heat oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
- Season beef with salt, pepper, garlic, and onion powder.
- Brown beef in batches until nicely seared on all sides. Remove and set aside.
2. Make the Gravy
- In the same pan, add flour and stir for 1–2 minutes to make a roux.
- Slowly whisk in beef broth, scraping up browned bits from the pan.
- Add Worcestershire sauce and Dijon mustard.
- Bring to a simmer until gravy thickens, about 5–7 minutes.
3. Simmer Beef in Gravy
- Return beef to the gravy.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer 20–25 minutes, until beef is tender and flavorful.
4. Serve
- Spoon beef tips and gravy over cooked rice.
- Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
