5-Minute Donuts (No Kneading, No Rest)
Yields: 6–8 donuts (depending on size)
Prep Time: 5 min
Cook Time: 3–5 min
Ingredients
For the Donuts
-
1 cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free blend)
-
2 tbsp sugar
-
1 tsp baking powder
-
1/4 tsp salt
-
1/2 cup milk (any kind)
-
1 tbsp melted butter or oil
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
1 egg (optional, for richer texture)
For the Topping
-
2 tbsp melted butter
-
1/4 cup sugar (plain or mixed with cinnamon)
-
Optional: cocoa powder, powdered sugar, or glaze
Instructions
1. Mix the Batter
-
In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
-
Stir in milk, melted butter, vanilla, and egg (if using) until smooth.
-
Batter should be thick but pourable.
2. Cook the Donuts
Option 1: Microwave (super fast)
-
Lightly grease a microwave-safe donut mold.
-
Fill each mold about 3/4 full.
-
Microwave 40–60 seconds per donut until firm.
Option 2: Skillet / Pan-Fry
-
Heat 1–2 tbsp oil over medium heat.
-
Spoon batter into small circles in the pan.
-
Cook 1–2 minutes per side until golden brown.
3. Add the Topping
-
Brush warm donuts with melted butter.
-
Toss in sugar, cinnamon sugar, or your favorite topping.
-
Optional: drizzle with chocolate or glaze.
Tips for Success
-
Don’t overmix the batter—just combine until smooth.
-
Adjust cooking time slightly depending on thickness and appliance.
-
Serve immediately for best softness; microwaved donuts can be slightly chewy if cooled too long.
This is basically a quick “mug-style” donut” that’s ready in minutes—no yeast, no kneading, no rising.
I can also give a slightly more indulgent version with fluffy “cake-style” donuts baked in the oven in 10 minutes if you want something a bit more like a bakery donut without the wait.
